FAE and IAE Certification and Training Program

The objectives of SRI's two-day certification program are to train company staff to debrief the employee and spouse, partner, or unaccompanied employee after they have completed the FAE / IAE.

During the training program Human Resources staff and line managers: (1) learn the international competencies underpinning cultural adaptation and job suitability; (2) practice skills for facilitating (debriefing) a one-to-two hour counseling and evaluation session with the employee and spouse/partner, or unaccompanied employee, who have completed either the FAE or IAE.

The FAE or IAE raises issues for the employee and spouse/partner, or unaccompanied status job candidate, relative to their readiness and suitability for an international assignment. During the FAE / IAE debriefing session issues related to these areas are identified, probed, discussed, and future action steps developed.

Where FAE / IAE training programs are conducted.

SRI conducts FAE / IAE certification programs at locations around the U.S. and in different countries. Each program can accommodate up to twelve participants.

SRI also conducts in-house FAE / IAE certification programs. To minimize client cost and disruption to participants' work schedules, SRI will conduct the training session at a location designated by the client.

How the training program for the FAE / IAE works.

SRI's two-day certification program trains Human Resources staff and line managers to facilitate a one-to-two hour session with an employee and spouse, partner, or unaccompanied employee after they have completed the Foreign Assignment Exercise FAE or the International Assignment Exercise IAE.

Human Resources staff learn to counsel people through the issues, concerns and expectations raised by the FAE / IAE. The Facilitator Session accomplishes the following:

To determine the individual's readiness for an international assignment and/or participation in an international candidate pool and assist them in making a well-informed decision.

To clarify and gain a deeper understanding of personal, career and family conditions affecting an international assignment.

To begin the process of preparing for an international assignment by identifying areas requiring additional discussion, counseling, training, information, pre-departure and in-country support.
