The IAP provides a formal evaluation of potential expatriates and global leaders.
The IAP provides our client a verbal summary and formal, written evaluation report containing the results of our assessment for the employee and spouse and family, and for the unaccompanied employee. The IAP focuses on the following areas:
International Competencies
The traits, factors, conditions, behaviors, abilities, and skills an employee, spouse, and dependent children need to adjust to different cultural and life-style conditions.
Employee Job Suitability
The employee's ability to perform the job and achieve organizational objectives in the context of a foreign business environment and work ethic.
Interpersonal Style and Skills
The ability of the employee to work effectively with and through other people.
Development Plans
SRI identifies employee strengths and deficiencies, provides feedback to the candidate and recommendations to the company for: performance management, management coaching, career and succession planning (repatriation).
Pre-departure Training and Destination Support
SRI determines the needs of the spouse and accompanying children and recommends specific interventions for pre-departure training, counseling and destination support.
The IAP process involves a series of steps.
Pre-assessment
SRI discusses with HR the scope of the international operation, position and job context. SRI interviews the employee's supervisor about his or her performance related to SRI's research-based international competencies.
Pre-work
SRI's Background Information Form and the Jackson Personality Inventory (JPI) are sent to the candidate and spouse to complete and bring with them to their daylong assessment session.
Assessment Session
The candidate and spouse (and children, if requested) participate in a daylong evaluation, consisting of individual and joint interviews, psychological testing, counseling and feedback.
SRI prefers to conduct the IAP at a location chosen by the client for cost efficiency and to minimize disruption to the employee's and spouse's schedules.
Verbal Feedback and Written Report
Following the assessment session, or within 24 hours, SRI conducts a verbal readout of the assessment, by telephone, providing recommendations to HR and international operations management. Our verbal feedback is followed by a formal, written evaluation report.
Developmental Plans
At the client's request, SRI will provide a developmental plan for managing the employee's assignment and repatriation. SRI also can generate a dual-career plan to address spousal career issues.
