There are compelling reasons to use the SEI.
The SEI is a validated instrument that directs supervisors 'step-by-step' through a structured evaluation of potential expatriate employees. The SEI provides the company critical information for making reliable selections.
How the SEI works.
The SEI, along with other relevant information available to the company about the employee, is used to identify and screen potential candidates for international assignments. The SEI is designed to stand-alone or can be used as part of an international selection system with the FAE, IAE, SRI-TAIS and IAP.
The supervisor's direct observations of the employee's skills and behaviors in performing his or her job form the foundation of the SEI evaluation. Key components of the SEI are:
International Competencies (Characteristics)
SRI-researched critical international competencies.
Domestic and International Examples and Structured Questions
As a basis for comparison, SRI provides rated examples and structured questions for each international competency a person might demonstrate in his or her job, both in the U.S. and on an international assignment.
Competency Evaluation Rating Pages
A separate page for each International Competency is provided. The supervisor gives several examples of the employee's job performance, relative to the given rating for the particular International Competency.
Competencies Evaluation Summary Page
The Evaluation Summary Page pulls together the individual ratings the supervisor has given for each of the International Competencies.
Appendix 1
Additional Questions to consider for each International Competency.
Appendix 2
Additional Rated Examples of the International Competencies.
